Welcome to the 2026 FIT Count season
The new FIT Count season has arrived! From 1 April onwards, when weather is good, you can contribute Flower-Insect Timed Counts to the UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme. Enjoy spending 10 minutes counting the insects that visit flowers - wherever you can find flowers, and as often as you wish from now until 30 September.
We're really looking forward to seeing the first counts come in, and don't want to dampen your enthusiasm! But please do wait for the right weather conditions - warm and dry, with temperature of at least 13°C if it is sunny, or at least 15°C if it is cloudy.
If you are new to FIT Counts, or want a reminder of how to do a count, please go to our FIT Counts page and/or download the free FIT Count app. Those links provide full guidance on how to do a FIT Count, and also have information on identifying the different insect groups that you may see on your flowers.
Don't forget to upload your count results from the app, or add them to the website recording form. In the early part of the season you may end up with a count of zero insects – if so don't despair! This is still a valid result, and please do send it in.
